Installing a ceiling fan light? Here's how!
There are various ceiling fan lamps to compliment your style as well as killing two birds with one stone by illuminating your chosen room as well as cooling it down at the same time. What many people don't realise is that a ceiling fan can also become handy in the winter too by switching it to "winter mode". This changes the blades direction and suctions the cold air upwards and therefore the warm air, which is normally at the top, is driven back downwards to help you warm up faster. Saves you further heating costs!
What you need:
-
Electrical tester
-
Drill
-
Impact Drill
-
Screws and plugs
-
Long screws
Step 1. Turn off the power
Switch off any active power before installing your ceiling fan. Use an electrical tester to determine that there is no active power supply to the wires. If the electrical tester is not lit, then there is no active power present.
Step 2. Attach the blades to the fan
Screw the fan blades to the fan using a screwdriver.
Step 3. Attach the fan to the extension rod
Connect the wires from the fan to the fan cover and screw the cover in place. Pull through the electrical wires through the extension rod and slip on the ceiling plate/cap. The extension rod is needed to ensure that the fan blades do not hit the ceiling. Attach the balance ball to the top of the rod on the otherside of the plate/cap. This ball ensures that the fan stays balanced and does not wobble while spinning.
Step 4. Attach the receiver and ceiling bracket
Place the ceiling plate/cap around the balance ball and then place the receiver inside the plate. Attach the power cables of the fan to the receiver, the receiver allows you to use your remote control with the fan.
Step 5. Insert the bulbs and attach the lampshade
Turn fan over and place the bulbs in the fitting. Tighten the lampshade in place.
Step 6. Attach the fan to the ceiling
Connect the electrical wires of your ceiling to the terminal block of the fan. Fasten the fan to the ceiling with screws. It is strongly recommended to not fix the fan to the ceiling bracket alone as this is not strong enough and the fan can later fall down. Make sure you power drill the screws in a beam or in the ceiling. Now your ceiling fan installation is complete!
