Solar powered lighting are lamps that do not need wiring into the mains as they are powered by sunlight. Each lamp is complete with a solar-cell that charges the in-built battery. At night, upon dusk, the solar garden lamp is lit from the power that it has absorbed during the day. Most models of solar lamps have a burn time of about 6 hours with a fully charges battery. This is plenty of time to enjoy your outdoor area in the evenings.

It is important to note that solar garden lighting gives out less light than most other garden lighting that is connected to mains electricity. Solar garden lighting is talored more towards atmospheric mood lighting. If powerful light is needed then it is recommended to stick with regular mains powered garden lights. In addtion, if you are in need of lighting that will be on all throughout the night, then solar garden lighting is probably not the best solution. As there is a general burn time of about 6 hours, in winter your solar lamps will last you until about midnight. In the summer, you can possibly achieve more. Solar lighting can also also be great additional lighting to compliment or add extra atmosphere to your garden.
