A lamp can be used for various occasions. At lampandlight, we distinguish between different types of light.
Functional
With functional light, you always have sufficient lighting. Functional lighting is useful in spaces where you want to see well. Think of the kitchen or bathroom, but also in a home office, you don't want to sit in the dark.
Reading
You don't read in the dark. By choosing this type of light, you're sure that you won't have to put your book away. So, choose one of these lamps when this is the purpose of your lighting.
Ambiance
Ambient lighting creates coziness in your interior. This type of lighting gives a warm feeling in the house. Ideal for, say, the bedroom. Set the right mood with this type of lamps.
Direct light
Direct light comes straight from the light source and can therefore illuminate your entire surface. Direct light is mainly directed downwards and shines directly into the space. Direct light is handy when you want to perform a task.
Indirect light
The shade of the lamp can provide indirect light. Here, the light is reflected by the fixture or the shade creates a playful effect in another way. Indirect light is a atmospheric way to illuminate your space.
Orientation
Orientation lighting helps you find your way in the dark. This way, you don't trip when looking for the stairs or when coming home in the dark in the evening.
Fun
Lighting can definitely also be fun to look at. The playful effect of these lamps gives a cheerful touch to your interior. If you need an eye-catcher, then this type of light is the right choice.

The energy label of a product indicates how energy-efficient a product is with electricity. The energy labels run from A (dark green) to G (dark red), where lamps with energy label A are the most efficient and those with label G are the least efficient. You can find the energy label under specifications - light source.
Since the implementation of the new strict requirements for energy labels in September 2021, light sources have been given a relatively low energy rating. E, F and G are usually the energy labels that light sources are given, but they are just as economical as A, A+ or A++ used to be.
The energy consumption is shown at the bottom of the energy label on the product packaging. This is shown in kWh per 1000 hours. LED lights are often the most energy efficient light bulbs available.
The number of volts for a light represents the required supply voltage. The standard power supplied to the home is 220/230 volts. Almost all lights in our range can be connected to your mains power. There are a few exceptions, however (12 volts). For each product, the voltage is given in the specifications, under ""light source"". These lights require a transformer to convert the current from 220/230 volts to 12 volts. You cannot simply connect these lights to your mains without a transformer, as this will destroy the light source or fixture.
EAN stands for "European Article Number." It is a unique identification number used to label products in retail. This number aids in efficiently managing inventory, sales, and logistics. Each EAN number contains information such as the country of origin, the manufacturer, and a unique product number, making it easy to scan and trace products.
Cable length refers to the length of the electrical cord attached to the lamp. This determines how far the lamp can be placed from a power outlet. A longer cord length offers more flexibility in positioning the lamp, while a shorter cord length provides less range of movement.
Smart lighting can be controlled in various ways. At lampandlight, we use the following protocols:
Bluetooth
Most commonly known for wireless earbuds and speakers, but also handy for directly controlling lighting from a smartphone or tablet within a short range. Easy to use but less suitable for larger systems or longer distances.
WiFi
Utilizes your home network to control lamps. It offers the ability to manage your lighting even when you're not at home. Ideal for extensive control and integration with other smart devices, but it requires a stable and strong WiFi network. For an optimal experience, we recommend the LUUMR app. With the LUUMR app, you can easily install and control all our smart lighting. The LUUMR app is available for download in various app stores.
ZigBee
Zigbee lamps also use a wireless protocol to communicate with each other and other smart devices. However, a central hub is required for this. The hub serves as a bridge between Zigbee devices and your home network, allowing you to control the devices remotely. Zigbee is known for operating efficiently over longer distances and being energy-efficient.
